Jack Norton, of Sandown, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2025.
Jack lived a remarkable life rooted in faith, service, and passion. A devoted follower of Jesus, his greatest joy was sharing God’s love and living each day with purpose and gratitude.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jack served his country as a postal clerk before returning to civilian life, where he continued to serve others in all he did. He was also a gifted hairdresser who worked on Newbury Street in Boston, known for his creativity and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. Later in life, he worked at The Athlete’s Corner in Andover, Massachusetts, before enjoying a well-earned retirement.
An elite runner, Jack achieved extraordinary success as a marathoner, holding a world record in the Masters Medley and inspiring others through his discipline, perseverance, and humility. His dedication to running reflected his commitment to excellence in all aspects of life.
Jack had a strong and abiding love for his family. He was devoted to his wife, Susan, his daughter, Jacqueline, and his granddaughter, Sonnet, who brought him endless joy and pride.
At home, Jack found peace and delight in what he affectionately called “the side yard,” a space filled with flowers, hummingbirds, rabbits, and chipmunks. He spent many happy hours there, attempting—though never quite succeeding—to tame and feed the chipmunks that visited daily.
Above all, Jack will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his gentle spirit, and the inspiration he offered to all who knew him.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Susan Norton, of Sandown, New Hampshire; his daughter, Jacqueline Abreu, and her husband, Tony, of Derry, New Hampshire; and his granddaughter, Sonnet Allen, of Sandown, New Hampshire. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Mason and her husband, Artie, of Stoneham, Massachusetts, and Kathy Norton of Stoneham, Massachusetts; his brothers, Michael Norton and his wife, Beverly, of Woburn, Massachusetts, and Peter Norton of Stoneham, Massachusetts; his nephew, Shawn Norton, and his wife, Christine, of Reading, Massachusetts; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Marion Norton.
