Jack Nowlin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by YANDA & SON FUNERAL HOME - YUKON on Mar. 27, 2026.
Jack Gary Nowlin, 81, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. Jack was born October 1, 1944, in Oklahoma City to Jack and Mary (Hess) Nowlin.

At an early age Jack's parents instilled in him a strong work ethic. Everything in the house had to be spic n' span before there was any playtime. As a young boy he mowed lawns every summer to buy food for his collie Laddie, and his palomino horse Prince.

Jack held many jobs before going to work at Western Electric in 1964. (Retiring from Lucent Technologies in 2001) That same year Jack also joined the Marine Corp Reserves. He also served in the Oklahoma National Guard and the Army Reserve. He proudly served his country for 17 years and supported many veteran charities throughout his life.

Jack married the love of his life, Andrea Gray, on September 20,1968. They lived in Oklahoma City before moving to Yukon, Oklahoma where they established their forever home. Together they had two children, Annisa and JJ. His children and grandchildren were his greatest blessings.

Jack was his children and grandchildren's greatest fan. He coached and attended as many of their activities as he could throughout the years. He loved his family deeply and unconditionally.

A hard worker Jack took on many extra jobs to support his family. He was also known as a "Jack of all trades ". He could repair or build just about anything. He also gave to others from the heart. He was the kind of guy who would shovel snow from a neighbor's driveway, mow lawns, and put away trash cans anonymously.

Jack was an everyday average guy who loved the Lord and was a member of the South Yukon church of Christ. He loved his family, this country, the Marine Corps., Oklahoma, politics, OU football and OKC Thunder. His knowledge of Oklahoma history was so great that he could have been a state ambassador. He was on the rolls of the Choctaw Nation and supported his Native American heritage.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and bother-in-law, Edward Tull.

He is survived by his wife Andy; children, Annisa Chesnut (Sam) and JJ Nowlin (Sheryl); four grandchildren: Carson Chesnut, Evan Chesnut, Karly Nowlin, and Jenna Nowlin; sister, Sherri Tull; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Gary Tarkington, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jack will be remembered for many things but the greatest of all was the love he had for the Lord and his family. Jack will be cherished in our hearts and remembered forever.

Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the funeral home. Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2026 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
