Jack David Olds, 93, of Owatonna, died Thursday, September 25, 2025, surrounded by family.

He was born December 14, 1931, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, the son of George and Leona (McIntosh) Olds. Jack was united in marriage to his best friend and partner, Charlotte Helen Olds on July 24, 1958, in Bertha, MN. Throughout his life, he was known as a gentle, honest spirit, touching many lives around him. He was a mentor and a big part of the AA group, joining in December of 1983. He served in the Navy and was the barber on the ship. During his spare time, he and Charlotte would take their boat up north and go fishing and camping, they would also go to the casino and travel together. Jack was an involved member of the community, he was active in the Elks, Legion, Eagles, and VFW. Those who knew Jack wanted to be around his presence, he was called "The Neighborhood Icon" and would never pass up the cookies and sweets people would drop at his door.

He is survived by his daughters, Diana (Steve Schimek) Olds Overton of Stewartville, MN, Lori Long of Owatonna, MN, and Lisa (Paul) Prestegard of Claremont, MN; grandchildren, Ryan (Crystal) Prestegard, Danielle (Nicholas) Klinkner, David Long, Rachel (Trevor) Abrego, Jared (Steven Ortiz) Overton, and Bryton (Emily) Overton; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Kendra, Louella, Meredith, Ryker, Taiven, Marshall, Noah, Jolin, Ace, Max, Grace, Leo, Maisy, and William, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Charlotte, brothers, Harry, Robert, and Donald.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 11 am with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Michaelson Funeral Home from 4-7 pm. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
