Farrar Funeral Home - DandridgeIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Edward "Rocky" Payne, Jr., a cherished husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather, who departed this world surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was a man whose life was a melody of grace and devotion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. He passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Born with a song in his heart, Jack dedicated his life to celebrating the glory of God through music. As the esteemed Music Director at French Broad Baptist Church, he inspired countless souls with his fervent hymns and unwavering faith. His commitment to his church was a testament to his deep spiritual foundation and love for his community.
Beyond the choir loft, Jack found joy in the swing of a golf club, the thrill of travel, and the warmth of family gatherings. His adventures took him far and wide, yet it was the simple moments with his loved ones that he treasured most.
Jack was the beloved husband of Cloie Payne, whose partnership was a beacon of love and support. He was a devoted father to Morgan Askew, stepfather to Ashley Ramsey, father-in-law to her husband, Bryan Ramsey, and proud grandfather to Brayden Ramsey. He was also a brother to Cecil Payne, brother-in-law to Thelia Payne, and uncle to Meici Payne. He was a son of Jack Payne, Sr. and the late Alice Payne. His family was his greatest joy; and his legacy of love and kindness will endure in their hearts.
Jack Payne, Jr.'s life was a beautiful song that will continue to resonate in the lives of those he touched. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will remain a guiding light for all who knew him.
Pastor Hartsell McCurry will officiate the funeral service, which is scheduled for 1PM, Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at French Broad Baptist Church in Dandridge. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Farrar Funeral Home of Dandridge is honored to serve the Payne family.
