Jack Lawerence Porter, 93, of Shelbyville, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Shelbyville, Texas. He was born on April 21, 1932, in Center, Texas, to the late Acie Leon Porter and Addie Lee (Greer) Porter.

Visitation will be held from 12PM - 2PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Sardis Pentecostal Church. Funeral service will follow at 2PM with Bro. Todd Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Old Sardis Cemetery.

Jack grew up in the Sardis Community, where he developed the strong work ethic and values that guided him throughout his life. He was a proud graduate of Shelbyville High School and went on to build a long and dedicated career in the construction field with Brown and Root.

Jack devoted over 30 years of service to his work before retiring, earning the respect of coworkers through his reliability, skill, and commitment. Outside of work, he found great enjoyment in fishing, a pastime that brought him peace and happiness.

In 1986, Jack married the love of his life, Gloria (Whittley). Together, they shared 39 years of marriage, creating countless fond memories and building a life rooted in love and devotion.

Jack loved serving the Lord and was a faithful member of Sardis Pentecostal Church, where his faith and commitment to his church family were evident. His life was marked by dedication-to his work, his faith, his community, and the people he loved.

Jack will be remembered for his kind spirit, strong faith, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.

He is survived by his wife,

Jack is preceded in death by his parents Leon and Addie Porter.

Serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Jenkins, Garrett Jenkins, Houston Fitzgerald, Kyle Barnes, Butch Johnson, and Bill Barns.
