Jack Quattrochi Obituary

Jack Almas Quattrochi, 30 of Pittsfield, MA lost his battle with mental illness on Wednesday March 4, 2026 at his home.

Jack, the son of Joanne Quattrochi was born in Karaganda, Kazakhstan on March 10, 1995. He graduated from Taconic High School, where he played the trombone in the school marching band. Jack was also a member of the school tennis and ski teams. He earned his associate's degree from Berkshire Community College and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Jack was working as a certified nursing assistant at Berkshire Medical Center at the time of his death. Jack always found ways to help and work with children, including as a ski instructor at Bousquet, counselor at CYC Summer Camp and participant in the Haiti Plunge. He also worked as an Ambassador for Downtown Pittsfield. Jack was outgoing and befriended everyone he met with his million-dollar smile. He was a talented artist and a gifted writer, often combining these skills in heartfelt letters to friends and family.

Jack will be greatly missed by his loving mother, Joanne M. Quattrochi, his aunts, Susanne Quattrochi, Robin Fernsell and Karen Bauer; his cousins, Sarah Gilkes, Andrew Gilkes, Madeleine Fernsell, Alison Fernsell, Kathryn Bauer and Hanna Bauer and his community of friends and coworkers. He was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Robert K. and Kathryn C. Quattrochi.

Yesterday

Jack was the most energetic and beautiful soul. Every interaction and memory I have with Jack is filled with smiles and laughter. We spent many days together at Bousquet, on the race team, and teaching ski lessons. I was also fortunate to travel to Italy with Jack on a school trip. I´m so blessed to have called Jack a friend.

I worked with Jack on rehab...I called him the energizer rabbit....lol....Always on the go....First moment I met him ....instantly loved him! We always joked with one another and shared many family stories....He definitely was a ray of sunshine on that floor! He always grabbed my linen bags for me cause some were heavy....he just appeared out of no where and would snag them...well....he had me laughing so hard one day because this time I grabbed the bag quicker then he did....and I was teasing him and dragging that linen bag like it was too heavy to lift....and I looked at him and said...ya know jack this is very heavy.....and as he walked passed me he says..."I know"...He had me in tears laughing...Best humor!!! So many fun times working with him...rehab will never be the same without him! I was blessed knowing him! Love you Jack and I will forever miss you! My sincere condolences and prayers to your mom...your family..and your many friends....You will never be forgotten! Rest in peace my friend!!

I´ll never forget the day we met-your first day at Reid Middle School. From that moment on, so many great memories followed. Whether it was laughing through the school days or the time we spent on the ski team, those moments are ones I´ll always carry with me.

I´ll always remember you flying down the course in that bright red and yellow race suit. And every time I´m out skiing, I´ll be thinking of you. Ski fast Jack.

It's so obvious from reading these posts that everyone who met Jack absolutely thought the world of him. He had so much personality. This is such a terrible shock. I remember when he told me he had been appointed an ambassador for downtown Pittsfield, I thought, well, they got the right guy for that job. I can't imagine anyone better. Why do the good die young? Again Joanne, so sorry for your loss, but glad to have known Jack.

I worked with Jack for two years on day shift on the rehab unit . I have to say i have NEVER met any person like him in or outside the medical community. We could spend hours taking care of the same patients and i was always envious that they praised Jack to me all day and this was true of every single patient even when we worked a different shift . When i was accepted to a position on the night shift , it took me a whole month to decide if i could leave Jack . We were never able to stay connected the last three years working on different shifts , but i will never forget the long talks we had over his growing up in an orphanage which he described in heartbreaking detail but never self pity , how his mother Joanne rescued him through her tennis partner , his deep respect and supernatural close bond with his devout Catholic grandfather Robert whom he enjoyed attending many church services with , and his love and friendship with his six cousins .
Jack , I am sorry i didn´t pay enough attention to your mental suffering and your world in general but thank you for being the BEST hugger the few times we ended our shift together. You always hugged so tight and long and filled with positive spirit. May all the angels and saints greet you on your heavenly journey and may God give you peace through His divine mercy , Jesus give you solace through His Paschal Mystery, and Mary give you rest through her maternal loving kindness . And may all of them be the recipients of the same hugs when you reach the Heavenly gates to keep everlasting company with your grandparents. Your friend in Christ , SMF

Jack moved through our halls like a man on a mission, but it was the quiet moments that revealed who he truly was, like the beautiful Bible quotes he hand-penned in perfect cursive on the back of his work papers. He was knowledgeable, compassionate, and had a smile that radiated a mile away. See you in heaven, Jack.

Jack was a fellow coworker at BMC. He was the sweetest and most kindest person to encounter there. Always had a smile on his face & treated everyone he met with respect and love. It´s such a devastating loss, not only to his family and friends, but to us at work, as well. He will always be remembered for the positive assets he had! We will forever miss him.

Jack made such an impression in my life. From growing up going to school together, to going to Haiti and fundraising together. His smile was infectious and he lit up the whole room. He was truly always smiling. This is a tremendous loss for the whole community. I am a better person for knowing Jack May he rest in peace.

Jack will always be remembered as the guy who lit up the room with his contagious smile. I will always remember him for his laugh, his hilarious jokes, and his outgoing sense of humor. I´ve run into him a few times since high school and each time he made my day, even the time I was about to give birth and I ran into him in the hospital hallway. To his family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Rest easy Jack

We are all so lucky to have known Jack. He was the brightest light in the room, beaming with positivity. He always cared about others around him.
I went to Taconic and MCLA with Jack. He would always tell me the story of when my sister threw an eraser at his face in art class. He wouldn´t let her live it down, but always laughed about it. I worked at the MCLA bookstore and when Jack came in to visit, it was the best part of my day. He would give me the biggest hug and we would catch up on life.
I will always hear Jack´s voice calling for me from across the cafeteria, campus, or the McDonald´s, "JULIE! How are you?!" It wouldn´t matter who was around or where you were, he´d make you feel like you mattered. Bless your sweet soul, Jack.

I met Jack at the YMCA and we worked together as camp counselors. Jack came in everyday with a smile on his face, a smile so bright it could light the room. No matter what day it was, no matter how bad of a day it had been, Jack would be a person you could go to if you needed a laugh and smile. One of my favorite things would be when i would run into Jack at a public event after not seeing him for some time. He would always be so delighted to see me and after having a conversation with him your whole day would be made. Truly, Jack was such a memorable person and I am truly thankful I got to meet him. You will truly be missed.

Jack was an amazing guy. He always knew how to make someone laugh and smile. I enjoyed my high school years with Jack. He made things that weren´t fun really funny. My dad always told me how much he liked Jack and how he always had him laughing. Sending prayers to his family.

To know Jack, was to love him. He was my staff at the YMCA and I know I speak for everyone when I say how blessed I feel to have known him and call him a friend. He made a visible difference in all of our lives- kiddos and coworkers alike. There´s no smile as bright as his, and the world will be darker without it. I am so so sorry

Jack was one of the friendliest and most outgoing people I ever met. His genuine curiosity brightened the rooms he entered, and he always did the right thing. At our 10 year highschool reunion, Jack shined like nothing had changed since we were in highschool. Out of the entire event, my conversations with Jack were the best part of the reunion. I will miss him dearly.
