Mr. Jack R. Simpson

Jack R. Simpson went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2025, surrounded
by his family at his beloved home of nearly 50 years in Scottsboro, Alabama.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 68 years, Linda Crowell Simpson, his
daughter-in-law Margaret Caldwell Simpson, daughter Barbara Simpson Richey
(Steve), son Thomas Carl Simpson (Michelle), grandson Joshua Richey, grandson
Grant Simpson (Samantha), granddaughter Sandy Simpson, brother Russell Carl
Simpson (Judy), and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by parents Carl Hensley Simpson and Effie Mae Smith
Simpson, son Danny Wayne Simpson, son Randy Ray Simpson (Margaret), brother David Ray Simpson (Annie), and nephew Rodney Simpson (Kerri).
Jack was born in Waverly, Tennessee, on May 19, 1939. He graduated from Waverly Central High School in 1957 before joining the United States Army. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Rhea Crowell, on September 28, 1957, and the newlyweds moved to Fort Cronkhite in San Francisco, California, where they had their four children before returning to Waverly, Tennessee, in 1962. They moved their family to Marshall County, Alabama, in 1973, where they eventually built a home on Lake Guntersville and have remained to this day. Jack wore many hats over the years and excelled at every career and hobby he set his mind to. His favorite job was in maintenance for Guntersville City Schools, where he dedicated many years before retiring in 2002. He spent his retirement chasing his grandchildren, fishing, working in his shop, and building clocks to hand out to his cherished family and friends. He was renowned for his captivating stories of "the good ol' days," recounting decades-old memories with vivid detail. His family never tired of hearing his tales. He will be dearly missed by all.
