JACK SIROTT Obituary

SIROTT--Jack. Jack Sirott, 99, of Langhorne, PA, died at home on December 30, 2025. Jack was raised in Bristol Borough, graduated from Penn State with a Political Science degree, and graduated from University of Pennsylvania Law School. He was denied admission into the Pennsylvania Bar because of blacklisting in the McCarthy era for having joined student protests at State College against a barber shop that refused to cut Black's hair. His case was taken up by the ACLU and a prominent Philadelphia law firm which eventually reversed it. Meanwhile, Jack practiced law anonymously in the back of his uncle's carpet store. That experience shaped his liberal politics, concern for the underdog and advocacy for civil rights. Throughout his life, he was a strong Democrat in both establishment and progressive camps, serving as the Treasurer of the Bucks County Democratic Party, running for state senate, Presidential delegate for Morris Udall and for the Bucks County Charter Commission and attendee at the annual Nation Cruise. He served on the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission for many years. Jack had a diverse civil and litigation practice, representing individuals, small businesses and many governmental and municipal clients, especially as long-time Solicitor for the Lower Bucks County Joint Municipal Authority. Other clients included the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Tullytown Borough, Tullytown School District, Neshaminy School District, and Lower Bucks Hospital and area businesses such as Zober Industries in Croydon, Lucisano Brothers in Tullytown, He served on various Boards including the United Way. He was an avid tennis player as well as jogger and biker, having biked in Europe, Canada, Cuba and the U.S. He loved traveling, fine dining and a good martini. He was an environmentalist and loosely embraced vegetarianism, calling himself a "flexetarian." He was a lover of the arts, especially theater, dance, film, fine art and classical music. He was a founder of the Bristol Players which operated a theater on Mill St. in the 1950's and charter Board member of the Bristol Riverside Theater. His gentle demeanor masked his sharp intellect, mathematical acumen, prodigious memory, quick wit and dry sense of humor. Second to the front page of the newspaper, he loved the Opinion page and the comics. He was preceded in death by his parents Israel and Elizabeth Sirott who had emigrated from Russia, and his brother Samuel. He is survived by his wife, Miriam "Mimi" Reimel, his two sons David (Sharon) Sirott and Michael (Jennifer May) Sirott, and two granddaughters, Karina and Kaylee. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:30am, at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Ave., Yardley, PA 19067. Entombment of ashes with military honors will be held at 1:30pm, at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30am to 11:30am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bristol High School, 1801 Wilson Ave., Bristol, PA 19007 or the ACLU (action.aclu.org). Yesterday

Jack Sirott added immensely to my career by steering my play, The Balkan Women, to The Bristol Riverside Theater which led to a Barrymore Award. It would never have happened without him. Karen and I lost a great friend. Our deepest sorrows to his wife, Mimi, who took great care of him.

My late husband Jim always spoke very highly of Jack. And we always seemed to run into Jack and Miriam at the airport when we traveled!
