Jack Stanley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Feb. 4, 2026.
JACKSONVILLE - Jack Scott Stanley, Jr., 73, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital. Graveside funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Jon McConkey officiating. A Service of Remembrance and Celebration will follow Friday evening at 5:00 PM at Maranatha Baptist Church.

Mr. Stanley was born in Woodman, KY to the late Jack J. Stanley and Lyda Mae Hathaway Stanley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann.

Mr. Jack served in the USMC for over 20 years, before retiring as a MSgt in 1992. He then enjoyed working as a custodian at Clyde Erwin Elementary School and also as a bus driver for Onslow County Schools. He was a long-time member of Maranatha Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities. However, he was happiest whenever he was cooking and/or hosting. As the unofficial host and cook at Maranatha, he prepared thousands of meals for church members and practically every visiting group of missionaries and guests.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dianna E. Stanley; daughter, Jozynthia (Milt) Luther; son, Scott (Jennifer) Stanley; grandchildren, Alex, Dianna Marie (Paul), Lisa, Kristen (Jordan), Maegan (Henry) and Calleigh; and sisters, Shirley, Diane, Lynn and Nancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent in his name to the Kitchen Renovation Fund @ Maranatha Baptist Church, 1375 Onsville Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28546.
