Jack Russel Stones, known affectionately to all as Jack, passed away on April 2, 2025, at the age of 78, in
Riverside, California, following a brief, unexpected illness. Born on February 2, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jack's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and service, woven with the threads of wisdom, generosity, and thoughtfulness.
Jack's early years in Utah laid a foundation of resilience and discipline, qualities that served him well when he joined the Navy through the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois. His time in the service instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and camaraderie, which he carried throughout his life. After his honorable discharge, Jack channeled his leadership skills and work ethic into becoming a licensed general contractor. His hands crafted not only buildings but also the futures of those who worked alongside him.
With a spirit of entrepreneurship, Jack ventured into the hospitality industry as a restaurateur, owning multiple restaurants and bars. His establishments were more than places to dine; they were community hubs where warmth and laughter were as important as the food. As a family pitmaster, Jack's barbecues were legendary, a testament to his mastery of the grill and his ability to bring people together.
Jack's interests were as rich and varied as his life experience. An avid golfer, he could often be found on the greens, relishing the game's challenges and camaraderie. Photography was another passion, with Jack capturing moments of beauty and joy through his lens. His love for barbequing was not just a professional pursuit but a personal one, as he enjoyed experimenting with flavors and techniques to the delight of family and friends.
A devoted family man, Jack's heart was ever with his beloved wife, Patricia Stones, and their children, Eric Stones (married to Cherlene Stones) and Sue Klocki. He found joy in the achievements and adventures of his grandchildren, Robert Klocki, Jennifer Klocki, Will Parker, Jaelynn Huber, Tessa Stones, and Ben Stones, and he cherished the bright spirits of his great-granddaughters, Sarah Klocki, April Klocki, and Taylor Parker. Jack's bond with his brother, Doug Garritson, and sister, Nancy Draper, along with their respective spouses, Sherry Garritson and Del Draper, was unbreakable, rooted in shared memories and unwavering support.
Beyond his human family, Jack had a special place in his heart for Poppy, his loyal canine companion. Their walks, playtime, and car rides were sources of mutual joy and contentment. Jack's mornings were often spent in contemplation over a cup of meticulously crafted coffee, a puzzle at the ready, his mind as sharp and engaged as ever.
Jack's legacy is a mosaic of his many roles: a wise advisor, a generous friend, a thoughtful mentor, and a pillar of his community. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his impact will continue to resonate in the lives he touched and the love he shared.
As we bid farewell to Jack Russel Stones, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by enduring connections and meaningful contributions. His was a life that exemplified the virtues of service, family, and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Jack's memory will be cherished and honored, a guiding light for all who follow.
