Jack Tedder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burns Funeral Home of Perry on Oct. 1, 2024.
Jack Tedder passed away on September 26, 2024, at the age of 83. He was loved and honored by his wife, sons, grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Serving as the Taylor County Tax Collector for 32 years gave him the opportunity to serve his community in a meaningful way. Additionally, he was able to serve the entire state as the President of the Florida Tax Collector Association from 1994-1995. Jack would always go out of his way to help anyone who reached out. His motto "Just do what is right" has been shared with his family, friends, and those he worked with.
Prior to his political career, Jack owned and operated several small grocery businesses, co-owned a trailer business, and later established Jack's Boats and Trailers. Jack always had an entrepreneurial spirit and loved to farm. Riding his tractor was a great joy, whether tilling the soil, mowing, or planting. He passed his love of farming on to his family. His sons and grandchildren are all involved in their own gardens today, and he loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife, Janice, who he married in 1961, sons Kent (Denise) and Wayne (Liz), grandchildren Jennifer (Charles), Kenton (Ash), Emma, Sierra (Jacob), Bella, Genny, and two great-grandchildren, Teagan Tedder, and Murphy Gehres. His sister, Betty Jane Holton of Perry, and one brother, RP Tedder of Oldtown, and many much-loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Michael and brothers Calvin Buchanan, Bryant Tedder, and John H. Tedder, and Richmond Tedder and sisters Violeteen Anderson and Wanda Cash
A visitation will be at 10:00 am, at his home church, First Baptist Church of Perry, on Saturday, October 5, with services immediately following at 11:00 am.
