JACK TRILY Obituary
Nov. 30, 1933 – June 5, 2025
Jack Taylor Trily "Jack," "Jacky," "Jackson," "Boss" - whatever you called him, he was your friend. But mostly, Jack was affectionately known as "JT" ("Just Terrific," he would say). JT passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 5, 2025.
Jack Taylor Trily was born on November 30, 1933, in Mobile, Alabama, to Mary Doris and Jack Stanley Trily. He was an affable embodiment of smooth, country charm, with a remarkable sense of humor and humility that he carried until the very end.
From very modest beginnings, JT worked hard, thought forward, and was a pioneer. He was a founding principal of the Fountain of Youth Spa RV Resort, outside of Niland, CA, in addition to having built many custom homes throughout California's Imperial Valley.
After serving his country in the Construction Battalion division of the United States Navy, JT attended the University of San Diego on a football scholarship. There, he met his beloved wife Janet Halla. They married in 1960 and went on to enjoy a long and loving marriage (64 years!). In 1979, after raising two sons and a daughter in Brawley, CA, they relocated to La Jolla, where they remained for the rest of their lives.
JT was preceded in death by his wife, Janet 104 days before his passing. He is, and always will be, greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
JT is survived by his sons, Tony (Lori Parkin) and Joe (Sandi Wheaton) Trily; daughter, Jolene Wade; grandchildren, Lucas (Tamara), Sean, Claire and Isabel (Trevor Ruesch) Trily, and Jake and Caroline Wade; and brothers-in-law, Joe (Toni) and Jim (Jean Anne) Halla.
In honor of his life, a funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, 4212 Jewell St., in Pacific Beach, San Diego. Additionally, a Celebration of Life for both JT and Janet will be held in Hayes Hall at the Fountain of Youth Spa RV Resort, 1500 Spa Rd., Niland, CA, on Saturday, January 17, 2025, at 10 a.m.

Jack was a tremendous football player and became a friend to me although we were four years apart in school classes. He was always friendly to me and others in spite of his athletic abilities and class recognition. God bless him in heaven and may God bless and take care of his family.

Condolences to Tony (tennis doubles partner on high school team), Joe and the rest of the Trily family. My parents used to tell me Jack Trily built one of our first family homes on "C" Street in Brawley back in the mid 60s. I was too little to remember. My wife and I will be praying for peace for you all.

I don't believe I ever had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Trily in person, but as a member of the 1951 CIF Championship football team from Brawley I heard his name mentioned in my home many times. In fact, so many times that I feel like I do know him. Condolences to the family and congratulations on a life well lived.
