It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather, and
Grandpa-Grandpa – Jack Louis Williams Sr. of Endicott.
Jack passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 15th at the age of 89 after a brief courageous battle with cancer, as did his wife and high school sweetheart, Jennie, who predeceased him 17 years earlier on April 16, 2005. He was also predeceased by his Mother and Father, Helen and Pierson Williams, his brothers Al (Millie), Jim (Thelma), Ken (Del), and Carl (Dawn).
He is survived by his children daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Bob Malarkey, son, Peter, son and daughter-in-law Jack Jr. and Stacey, and daughter, Lisa Williams. He is also survived by his grandchildren Robert Jr., Derek (Crystal), Ashley (Jason), BriAnna (Michael), Mikayla (Fred), and great grandchildren Alexa, Isabella, Robert III, Roman, Alexander, Gavin, Kallie, Rylee, Brynlee, and many nieces and nephews.
Jack served in the Korean War from 1953-1955 as a Corporal in the Company C, 724th Transportation Battalion. After returning from his service overseas, he worked for the Lackawanna Railroad until he was hired by IBM Endicott where he worked in Quality Engineering for 35 years and retired in 1991.
Jack loved bowling, playing slots and scratch-offs, mowing his lawn, cooking for his family every Saturday morning (Breakfast Club), playing pitch on Sundays with his sons and son-in-law, and taking care of his grand-pups Buddy & Lola, and most recently, Rudy. Back in the day, Jack and Jennie were known for their spectacular polka dancing and they loved polka music. In October of 2003, they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in Las Vegas with their entire family. It was a trip of a lifetime for all. Jack also loved his frequent trips to Tioga Downs; the last one being Thursday, September 8th.
The family would like to thank the staff of Vestal Fresenius Dialysis Center for taking good care of our Dad over the past few years. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Endwell Family Physicians' Dr. Lazarus Gehring for his care and compassion, and the wonderful Amala, whom Dad loved to see and talk to on his visits.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.
Jack will be forever loved and missed. May he rest in peace, as he is finally reunited with "his Jennie", and they are now together for eternity.
