Jack Wilson, 89, of Lenapah, Oklahoma, passed away in Dewey, Oklahoma, on July 13, 2024. His wife, Lorene Wilson, passed minutes after him while they were holding hands. Jack Dean Wilson was born on August 27, 1934, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Charles Oliver Wilson and Cora (Wilson) Wilson.
He grew up in the South Coffeyville area and remained in the area throughout his lifetime. Jack attended and graduated from Lenapah High School. At the young age of 11, Jack began working at the Coffeyville Packing company, along with his 5 brothers. After working for 32 years there, he went on to do custom butchering. As a custom butcher, Jack worked for numerous butchers and during deer season, he would stay busy doing his custom butchering. In 1954, Jack married Olive Ann Howe at an early age and the couple had two daughters together: Lisa and Lynette. They shared many happy years together until Olive’s passing in 2001.
In his younger years, Jack was an exceptional softball player. At one time, he was playing for 3 different fastpitch softball teams. He was also passionate about coaching little league baseball and he coached for many years. His daughters loved to rodeo when they were young and Jack would come home from work on a Friday, get packed and ready for the rodeo, rodeo all weekend with his girls, come home on a Sunday night, and be ready to go to work on Monday morning. In his free time, Jack enjoyed hunting, tending to his cattle, and fishing.
Jack married Lorene on May 17, 2003, and the couple would enjoy many years together until their passing. Jack and Lorene really enjoyed going riding around their land on their side by side.
Jack was a warm spirit and never met a stranger. He seemed to know someone wherever he went. He enjoyed visiting with people and telling stories. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Jack is survived by his daughter: Lynette (Crickett) Long of Delaware, OK, his son-in-law: Jim Lowrey of South Coffeyville, OK; 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Through his marriage to Lorene, he gained stepchildren: Barry (Billie) Swanson of Bartlesville, OK and Brenda Koscelny of Texas, six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Olive Ann (Howe) Wilson and his wife: Lorene Wilson; his daughter: Lisa Lowrey; his grandson: Jesse Lowrey; his brothers: Otis, Bob, Ellis, Leo, and Richard, and sister: Vivian.
Funeral services for Jack and Lorene are planned for Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the First Church of God at 10:00 AM with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Washington Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemoriesnowata.com.
