Jack Dempsey "Demp" Winstead

Mr. Jack Dempsey "Demp" Winstead, age 75, departed this life and entered into eternal rest early Friday morning, August 11, 2023 at Carver Rehabilitation and Living Center in Durham, North Carolina. He was born August 1, 1948 in Person County to the late Willie Chris and Thennie Williams Winstead and at an early age, joined the Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Lucille Moore and Rachel Hughes; and five brothers: Willie, Emory, Dizzie Dean, Earlie and Stanley Winstead.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Linda L. Winstead of the home; three sisters: Nannie Pulliam, Mamie Poole and Betty Jordan (Frank), all of Roxboro, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Ruth Winstead, also of Roxboro; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Lawson (Rita) of Jacksonville, North Carolina; a special niece, Christy Poole Royster of Durham, North Carolina; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 2:00pm at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde A. Glass, Pastor of Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, officiating and providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, 1111 Oak Grove Mt. Zion Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574.
Visitation will also be Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 2:00pm when his body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
