Jackie Diane Bissette

ROCKY MOUNT – Jackie Diane Barefoot Bissette, age 79, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. Born in Nash County, NC on March 31, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Paul Barefoot, Sr. and Ruth Odell Chapel Barefoot. She was also preceded in death by her son in law, Johnny Ray Lamm; her brothers, Paul Barefoot, Jr., Edward Lee "Ed" Barefoot, and Robert Barefoot; and her sister, Angie Barefoot Macaskill; her granddaughter, Niki.

Jackie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose heart and spirit will live on forever. Above all, the moments she treasured most were those spent simply as Granny.

Jackie is survived by her partner for over 30 years, Kenneth "Ken" Pruitt; her daughter, Vickie Shearin Lamm; her sons, Tommy Shearin (Diane), Eddie Shearin (Melissa), and Ken Pruitt (Cathy); her grandchildren, Jonathan Ray, Victoria (Miguel), Kody, Renee, Tommy Allen (Dani), Meagan, Morgan, Bobby, Blake and Kailey; her great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Liliana, Miguel, Isabella, Angel, Alex, Josh, Kayla, Brixton Heidi, JJ, Bo, Baker, Rhodes, Yates, Paxton, Kenzie, Elan, Laurali and Ryker; her sisters, Annie Barefoot Hinnant and Alice Barefoot Adams; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dearest friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Jackie's life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804, with Rev. Darrell Norris officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service at Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
The family would like to especially thank Jackie's sister, Alice, as she and Jackie were two peas in a pod together.
