It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Jackie Dean Hopkins, aged 87, of Haysville, Kansas. He departed this world on January 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wichita, Kansas, Jack was the cherished son of Clinton and Mildred (Allison) Hopkins.

Jack Hopkins spent his formative years in Wichita, Kansas, attending Valley Center High School. Driven by a passion for learning and spirituality, he pursued higher education at Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he earned an associate of arts degree. His academic journey continued at Mid America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts and later, a Master of Religion.

On May 9, 1964, Jack married the love of his life, Ruby Barnes. Together, they forged a life imbued with love, devotion, and unwavering support for one another. Their union was a testament to the enduring power of love.

Jack dedicated his life to ministry, serving as a pastor at various Church of the Nazarene congregations in Kimball, Nebraska; Larned, Kansas; Wichita, Kansas; and Lamar, Missouri. His service extended beyond the church as he worked with the Larned Ambulance as an EMT, and also served as a bus driver. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959.

Jack found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and hunting. He was an avid softball enthusiast and cherished every moment spent with his family. Whether playing cards or enjoying hearty conversations around the kitchen table, his family was his pride and joy. He was particularly fond of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, delighting in their company. Jack was also known for his "coffee cup ministry," extending warmth and conversation to people wherever he went.

Jack will be fondly remembered for his unwavering faith and dedication to serving the Lord. His life was a testament to kindness, humor, and dedication, not only to his family but also to his community. His legacy is one of faithfulness, compassion, and profound love for others.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Ruby, and their children: Kelly (Richard) Williams of Perry, KS; Doug (Janell) Hopkins of Wichita, KS; and Jill (Doug) Cline of Wichita, KS. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Jack is survived by his sister, Georgia Birdwell of Coweta, OK.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Wilma, Donna, Myrtle and Peggy, his son Jack Hopkins, and his grandson Alex Northrup.

Jackie Dean Hopkins' life was a beacon of faith, love, and service. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the Wichita VA hospital doctors, nurses, staff, and Angels Care hospice that provided excellent care during his battle with Mesothelioma.
