Jackie Rowan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCoy Funeral Home - Sweetwater on Feb. 3, 2026.
Jackie Edd "Peep" Rowan, 90, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life marked by faith, family, and quiet strength. He was born on August 10, 1935, in Roby, Texas.

Jackie was a strong Christian whose faith was lived out daily-not loudly, but faithfully. He was a devoted and beloved family man. Those who knew him understood that while he was a man of few words, when he spoke, his words carried wisdom and meaning.

For more than 40 years, Jackie worked in the oil field, where he was respected, trusted, and genuinely loved. He had a rare gift for making people feel comfortable. No one was ever a stranger to him, and many will remember his signature handshake-a small but lasting reflection of the way he connected with others.

Jackie cherished morning coffee with his breakfast buddies and enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Tech Red Raiders. He found joy in life's simple routines and the relationships built along the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rowan; his sons, Randy Rowan and Rodger Rowan; and his grandson, Tucker Rowan.

He is survived by his daughter Sherry DeLeon and husband Freddy of Sweetwater, his son Robbie Rowan and wife Bethany of Celina, Texas, along with thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Jackie's life is reflected in the words of Scripture:
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10

His legacy lives on through the faith he modeled, the family he loved, and the countless lives he touched simply by being who he was.

A visitation will be held at McCoy Funeral Home on Friday, February 6 from 5:00-7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on Saturday February 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. J.T. Thornton officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories directed by McCoy Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Rowan, Jordan Rowan, Kaleb Turney, Garrett Muncy, Konner Turney and Kreed Turney. Honorary pallbearer will be Tucker Rowan.
