Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann Small, 67, of
Memphis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, under hospice care at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa. Anyone who knew Jackie would tell you she lived with equal parts heart, grit, and honesty.
Jackie was born February 2, 1958, in
Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Francis Nelson and Patty Sue Egbert Golbricht. She grew up in Gorin, Missouri, and graduated with the Class of 1976.
Her son, Matthew, was born to her first marriage. Jackie met the love of her life, turned life partner, David Peterson, beginning a relationship filled with devotion, humor, and more than a few spirited debates. Together, they made their home in
Memphis, Missouri.
Jackie worked at the sale barn kitchen and the Garment Factory, later finding her true calling as a CNA at the Scotland County Nursing Home.
Anyone who knew Jackie knew she was a spitfire in the best possible way. She spoke her mind and stood her ground, and if you didn't want the truth, you probably shouldn't have asked her. Her honesty and courage were constants in her life and in the lives of those who loved her.
She found joy in simple pleasures. Jackie loved Mickey Mouse, Hallmark movies, and watching the Home Shopping Network, often with a package on the way that even she sometimes forgot she ordered. She could turn simple outings with Morgan, Kendall, and Elsie into all day adventures. She rarely missed listening to Matthew and Kyle's, or Riley's football games on the radio.
Jackie loved teaching in her own way. She taught Kristi about makeup and Kyle the proper way to stuff a burrito. She was known for her sugar cookies, a tradition she proudly passed on to her grandchildren, with David supervising to make sure they were done right.
Above all, Jackie's greatest joy was her son, Matthew, and the family he built with his wife, Morgan. Her grandchildren were her heart, and she celebrated every moment with them.
Jackie is survived by her partner David Peterson of
Memphis, Missouri; son Matthew (Morgan) Small of Arbela, Missouri; stepdaughter Kristi Peterson of Ashland, Missouri; mother Patty Golbricht of
Memphis, Missouri; sister Stacey Richardson of Wyaconda, Missouri; brother Rick (Cheryl) Golbricht of

Memphis, Missouri; and sister-in-law Judy Peterson of Gorin, Missouri, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
