Jackson Poole Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 15, 2026.
Jackson Lee Poole was born in Washington, DC, on May 26, 1948, to Lester H. Poole, Jr., and Peggy J. Poole. From that very beginning, the world gained someone truly special. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends, on January 13, 2026, at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware-aptly and lovingly named by him "Journey's End." It was a fitting place for a man who lived life as a grand adventure, shared generously with others every step of the way.

Jack was, quite simply, a different breed. He possessed a rare zest for life, a heart of gold, and an uncanny ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. Selfless, kind, and endlessly giving, he was an exceptional listener and a steadfast presence for his friends. His door was always open. Open-minded in heart and spirit, he welcomed people from all walks of life and treated everyone as an equal. Whether rich or poor, young or old, you were met with the same warmth, respect, and genuine interest.

An absolute hoot to be around, Jack balanced his true gentleman's nature with a fun-loving spark that made every gathering better simply because he was present. He lived a colorful, robust life and collected more friends than one could ever count-friends who loved him deeply and will miss him immensely.

Jack attended Falls Church High School and went on to build a diverse and meaningful career. In his early years, he worked alongside his father and uncle in the car business. He was a Virginia Realtor for 36 years, served proudly as a Department of Defense civilian with the Naval Research Laboratory, and was one of the most entertaining school bus drivers Fairfax County Public Schools has ever had. His laughter, stories, and kindness left lasting impressions wherever he went.

Above all else, Jack will be remembered for how he made people feel: welcome, valued, and loved. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the friendships he nurtured, and the joy he spread so freely.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Anne, and his three sons, David, Michael, and Billy, as well as his sisters, Jill Poole and Daren Flather. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Linda, and his youngest sister, Dawn Anne Thomas.

Though his journey on this earth has ended, the impact of Jack's life will continue-felt in shared laughter, open doors, and hearts made better for having known him.

Jack's family cannot begin to express enough gratitude for the incredible care provided by three loving friends, John, Tom, and Charlie, as well as the team at Delaware Hospice.

I spent many years having Jack as my friend. I can honestly say that Jack opened his heart to me and became a close friend almost instantly. That's the kind hearted person he was. I will miss him greatly. Thank you, Jack for being a true friend.

Love you,
