Nancy Runkle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. - West York on Feb. 19, 2026.
Nancy M. Runkle, born March 28,1945 in York, PA, passed away in the memory care unit of Autumn House West in York, PA, on February 17, 2026.

Married and devoted wife to James R. Runkle for 65 years in November 2025. Their love was visible, and they built a wonderful life together.

Nancy was a great and loving wife, a wonderful mother and a hard worker.

She started working at an early age and worked at the following companies, Doespun, Triumph Hosiery, Danskin, Bluebird Silk and retired in 2012 from Dentsply.

Nancy was outgoing, sociable and had a great laugh. We love her and will miss her greatly. Nancy enjoyed many activities with family and friends.

She liked going to auctions, yard sales, and flea markets with Jimmy in search of collectibles like antique oil lamps, teapots and jewelry to mention a few. A big favorite of hers was collecting Hallmark Ornaments and one time visited the Hallmark headquarters and visitors center in Kansas City. She loved singing and dancing to 50's and 60's music and really had some great dance moves. She was always a tea drinker and enjoyed going to tea lunches. Trips to Rehoboth Beach Delaware with family was always a blast. She was always a great dresser, loved to wear her jewelry, and was very particular about her hair. She loved tending to her flower beds around the house and the flower boxes. She was a dog lover and had many. She loved the companionship of all the dogs, and most recently with Lady, CeCe, and PePe.

Born in York, she was the daughter of the late Gladys S (Fisher) Wagner, E. Luthur Wagner and step-daughter of Millard (Pap) Deardorff Sr.(Dearie).

She is survived by her loving husband Jim, son James A. Runkle, daughter and son-in-law Lisa A. and Kevan R. Stough. Grandchildren James X. Runkle, Nancy A. Sipe and husband Scott, Raymond E. Sechrist and wife Julie. Step-grandchildren Ben and Brandt Stough and their families.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Marcelene Baum and brother-in-law, Dick of Hellam, PA.

Nancy was preceded in death by son-in-law, Elwood E. Sechrist.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at John W. Keffer Funeral Home, 2114 W. Market St., York PA 17404. Viewing will be 10 am to 11 am, with the funeral service to begin at 11 am, officiated by Rev. Donna Christopher. The burial will follow the service at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

A special thank you to the staff of Autumn House-West, Ascend Hospice and to Dr. Faina Caplan and Maureen at WellSpan Geriatrics, Pine Grove.

Nancy was a dog lover all her life so memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of York County. Please do not send flowers to the residence.
