Jacky Shiplet

Jacqueline "Jacky" Shiplet, 84, peacefully passed away on Mother's Day morning on May 14th, 2023. Jacky was born August 3rd, 1938 in Wenatchee, WA, to a big family having 14 brothers and sisters. Jacky was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Aggie Mantei; and her husband of 40 years, Robert Shiplet.
Jacky led a great life, having experiences she loved to share. At the age of 20, while going to college, she made the first page of "The Park County News" in Livingston, Montana with an article about her summer job. She was proud to be one of the only female log truck drivers.
On July 28th, 1960 she married her husband, an individual who also led a full life. He was a rancher, a pilot, and a heavy machinery operator. Together with her husband, she had three children who were her pride and joy, Tami Johnson, Bob Shiplet, and Kim Ypma.
She was passionate about multiple things in her life. Her love of her ranch led her to participate in various activities. She was a beef promotion chairman and former legislative chairman of Park County Cow-Belles, was a member and former director of the Park County Legislative Association, on the Park County Planning Board, and wrote a column for the High Cantry Paper (Bozeman). She felt a calling with children, leading her to being a school teacher from 1962-1998 (Clyde Park and Livingston). She was a longtime member of the Shields Valley United Methodist Church in Clyde Park, volunteering her time to help teach Sunday School.
In her later years, Jacky loved spending the day walking in the park near her home. She would especially enjoy her time when she ran into and was able to visit with her former students, which with 36 years of students, was not the rare occasion. Jacky was a warm and loving woman who would help out anyone she could, be they family or strangers, and would always make the time to make you feel heard.
She is survived by her three brothers, Dale, Bob and Giles Mantei; six sisters, Louse Corne, Mickey Radon, Thelma Rumford, Olga Mantei, Joleen Mantei, and Shena Mantei; her three children, Bob Shiplet, Tami Johnson and Kim Ypma; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she adored and doted on. Jacky will be loved and missed.
A graveside service will be held at the Clyde Park Cemetery, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1:00p.m.
