Jacob G. Bender

Jacob G. Bender, 69, of Reading, passed away July 27, 2016 in the Reading Hospital. He was the widower of Christine L. (Bobeck) Bender. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Jacob P. and Marie (Wiele) Bender. Mr. Bender graduated from Kutztown University with honors in 1974. He was employed as controller of the Greater Pennsylvania Savings Association in Hazelton for many years and most recently was the financial officer for the Commonwealth of PA at the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City. Jacob was a dedicated patriot and served as treasure of Berks County Patriots. He was also active in juvenile justice counseling. Survivors include his children Jesse M. Bender of Hazelton; Steven J. Bender of Blandon; three grandchildren Bennett Bender, Anthony Yates and Aurielle Bender. Other survivors include twin brother Edmund W. Bender, husband of Jane of Reading; sister Karen R. Kelly of Blandon; sister Renate Walker, wife of Bert of Reiffton. He was preceded in death by a brother Peter W. Bender. Memorial service to celebrate Mr. Bender’s life will be held in Grace Bible Fellowship, 1128 Hampden Blvd., Reading, PA 19604 on Thursday August 4, 2016 at 11:00am.
