Jacob William Ernst, age 20 years, of Pennington, NJ, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Born in Virginia, on May 11, 2005, he was the beloved son of Tifani McCann and William Ernst and brother of Olivia Ernst.
He was a graduate of The Pennington School and a student at the University of Toronto majoring in kinesiology and recently started a certification program to become a personal trainer in pursuit of his goal to work in the fitness industry. Jake was an expert skier and his hobbies included weightlifting, writing, and watching movies.
He will be remembered forever in our hearts as a loving, kind, sensitive, and loyal son, brother, and friend who cared for others especially those who were less fortunate. Jake was also a dependable and courageous teammate who was often given the toughest assignments in soccer and even stepped up to help his team by playing goalie in lacrosse.
Surviving are his devoted parents Tifani McCann and William Ernst and his caring sister Olivia Ernst as well as his adoring grandparents Michael and Noelle Donahoe, MaryAnn Ernst and William John Ernst. In addition, Jake is lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles, whose presence and affection deeply enriched his life. He is predeceased by his grandfather William James McCann Sr., uncle Jack McCann, and Sean McCann.
Private services will be held at the family's request.
