Jacob Wayne Helms, 22, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, as a result of a motorcycle accident. His Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Dalton Community Center in Dalton, Minnesota. Any and all who want to attend are welcome. There will be a Celebration of Life Ride leaving from the Fergus Falls Eagle's Club to the Dalton Community Center, kickstands up at 1:30.
Jacob Wayne Helms was born on December 23, 2001, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. From the time he was born until leaving this world on June 25, 2024, he loved motorcycles. Jacob was on 2 wheels as often as he could be, only laying down 3 bikes- at least that’s what he told his mother. He always said, “When it’s my time to go, I would be okay if it were on a motorcycle”.
Despite his loud claims of hating people and social anxiety, Jacob was always willing to help others, often at cost to himself. This tradition carried even in his death, with his heart being donated. But it’s not just the big gives- he was always the first to offer a hand with anything from carrying in the groceries, helping with his younger siblings, or rebuilding bike motors. Though he had not lived in Minnesota for long, only a couple of years, he was quickly becoming a fixture at all of the local motorcycle rides and events to support others. Everyone that knew Jacob was well aware of his (twisted) sense of humor. However, if he felt he had stepped over the line, he would quickly apologize.
Jacob is survived and loved by many, including his parents, Buffie (Joey) Arntson and Erik (Jennifer) Helms; sisters, Krista (Wayne) Nolan, Carolena Helms; brothers, Anthony Helms, Jaxson Helms; nephew, Maverick Nolan; his beloved girlfriend, Abbey Hawkins; many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and friends too numerous to list.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Carol Covert; and an uncle, Ryan Helms.
Jacob's family would like to express that this is not a dress up event. Come as you are to share stories, reminisce, and celebrate Jacob.
On behalf of the family, we appreciate each and every one of you for keeping him alive through memories, videos, and pictures. Please join us for Jacob's Celebration of Life with a late evening party to follow. Details will be announced in person.
