Kirk Allen Scott, age 72, passed away on February 11, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was at the home of his son Jesse, surrounded by family and in the care of HIA Hospice.
Kirk was born October 15, 1953 to John E. and Dolores I. (Halvorson) Scott. He attended District 1504 grade school (Orwell Township) and went on to graduate from Fergus Falls High School. He was baptized and confirmed at Federated Church in Fergus Falls.
Kirk met and married the love of his life, Dorothy “Dodie” R. Holt on October 18, 1974 at Federated Church. Together they raised two children, Chris and Jesse. Kirk and Dodie owned and operated Scotts Bait and Tackle in Fergus Falls for 13 years. Kirk was an avid fisherman, hunter, fur trapper, and operated Bat Busters Bat Removal Service for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dodie (died October 25, 2023); and sister-in-law Collette Jenne (died December 25, 2010).
Kirk is survived by his two sons, Chris (Julie) Scott, and Jesse (Samantha Lange) Scott; grandchildren, Daidre, Chase, Devon, Lilly, and Ariel; sister, Bonnie (Walter) Gondrez; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Dennis) Oberg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial service will be held 11 am, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, MN, with a visitation beginning an hour prior. Burial will occur at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls.
