Jacob N. Hohl, age 40, passed away on Saturday, October 18th after a well-fought battle with Uveal Melanoma.
Jake was the beloved husband of Megan, nee Daily: loving father of Logan and Hallie; cherished son of Roger and Deborah, nee Anderson; caring brother of Rebekka (Kurt) Allen, and Jeremiah (April) Hohl; caring uncle of Emily, Kaitlyn, and Carrie Allen, and Tyler and Trevor Hohl; dear son-in-law of Mike and Mary Daily; brother-in-law of Molly (Patrick) Cruitt; uncle of Maggie Cruitt.
He was a man of laughter, warmth, and big-hearted joy - known for his tight squeeze hugs, his love of a good backyard barbecue, and the way a cold Coors Light or a bold IPA tasted better when shared on a porch with friends or his brother.
He found happiness in the simple, everyday things - whether he was cooking up something delicious, baking with his kids (a time he lovingly called "scooping and mixing"), playing video games with friends or Logan, or sitting down for family movie nights with a bowl of snacks and the people he loved most.
He was the kind of dad who colored with his kids, played in the back yard, lifted weights with determination, and ran with the kind of energy he brought to everything he did. He never missed a chance to go out for tacos, nachos, or the spiciest wings on the menu, especially if it meant time with family.
He had a closet full of character graphic t-shirts and a heart full of spirit, especially when it came to the holidays - Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas were his favorites, and he made sure they were always filled with magic, laughter, and way too many decorations.
His presence was a gift - a blend of humor, strength, kindness, and joy. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 26th from 12:00 to 3:00PM at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Avenue, Darien, where a chapel service will be held at 3:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the
American Cancer Society, the Ocular Melanoma Foundation, or to a memorial fund set up for the children.
