Jacob M. "Jake" Nost, age 56, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE on September 26, 1967, he was a son of the late Jake A. Nost and Barbara L. (Davis) Greenwell. Jake grew up in Delaware City and had many friends. He worked construction in his younger years and then worked for many years as a union laborer with Local #199. During this time, Jake met his beloved girlfriend and best friend, Hope. Together, they adopted his precious Daddy's puppy, LuLu, and his loving kitty, Baby Girl.
A friend to many, Jake would help out his friends with cooking meals, auto, and home repairs. Jake and Hope enjoyed riding their motorcycles together, stopping and hanging out with their friends to shoot pool and play pinball. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his buddies and hanging out at the Red Lion Inn. Jake loved playing the Delaware Lottery and Keno (which he was very lucky at), hunting, and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his three grandsons. Jake liked listening to classic rock and country music. Above all, he loved his family and friends and making memories with them.
In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his beloved girlfriend, Hope; brothers, Paul, Ronnie, and Jeff; stepfather, Loyd T. Greenwell; nephew, Lil Joey; and sister-in-law, Helen Nost. He is survived by his siblings, Patricia Glenn (Dub), Cheryl "Cher" Griffin, Laura Nost Jones (Ralph), and AJ "Biggie" Nost; twin brother, Joseph "Joe" Nost (Mandy); daughter, Bethany Cruz; stepchildren, Rebecca Fulton, Eric Zane, Nick Ward, and Mark Ward; grandchildren, Trey, Cameron, Levi, and Maxxi; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will begin at 1 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Delaware City Fire Hall, 815 5th Street, Delaware City, DE. Inurnment will be held privately.
