Jacob "Jake" Virgil Ray, 81, of Bowden, passed away on May 31, 2025, in Elkins, WV. Born on December 3, 1943, in Bowden, he was the son of the late Virgil and Luvary (Lambert) Ray.
Jake worked as a well driller with Blackwater Construction, and lived a life marked by hard work, dedication and a deep love for his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, looking for ginseng, wood working and being at his little home on Middle Mountain. Most dear to his heart, though, was spending time with his family and his three dogs.
He is survived by the love of his life and mother of his three children, Dorothy Ray; children, Jonathan Ray and wife Tawana, Connie Ray and partner William Moats and Rebecca Ray; brothers, Dale Ray, Curlie Ray and Milton Ray; sisters, Linda Rogers and Joan Pifer; grandchildren, Brandon Ray, Dustin Ray, Lance Ray, Kody Souers, Jacob Ray and Kayden Ray; and a great grandchild, Sophia Ray.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Ray, Lenzie Ray and Miriam McCauley.
Jake's wish to be cremated was honored, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes - Davis Chapel is honored to be serving the Ray family at this time.
