On February 9th, 2025 Jacob Steven Samek, 21, passed peacefully surrounded by his parents and siblings. He was born on January 23rd, 2004. He graduated from Elkhorn North High School in 2022. While there he enjoyed being actively involved in all things musical. Show choir, marching band, and musicals, just to name a few. He received the first ever "Fenrir Award" honoring the student who showed an outstanding level of commitment and leadership in both the band and choir departments. He went on to study computer science at UNL. He continued his love for music by being selected to sing in the UNL Jazz Choir.
Jacob was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle. Friends were very important to him and he was fortunate to be a part of an amazing group. His love of music, kind soul, loyalty and faithfulness touched many lives in his time here on Earth.
Jacob is survived by parents Steve and Monica Samek; siblings, Lauren (Zach) Bogdanoff, Elissa (Jake) Nutter, and Seth Samek; nieces and nephews, Bennett, Blake and Blair Bogdanoff and Francesca and Julian Nutter; grandparents, Darold Hoffman and Verdene (LeRoy) Ortmeier; extended family and friends.
Preceded in death by grandparents, Rose Samek, Anton Samek and Nancy Hoffman; uncle Jim Essink.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be later designated to the Elkhorn North Music Department.
