Jacqueline Bryant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Funerals by T. S. Warden - Jacksonville on Jan. 7, 2026.
Jacqueline Nelson Bryant was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 5, 1948 to Mr. Tony Nelson, Sr. and Mary K. Nelson. She was preceded in death by both parents, husband, Michael Bryant, and brother, Tony Nelson, Jr.

As a young child, Jackie grew up in a very loving Christian family where she learned the value of sharing, hard work ethics, and a strong belief in God.

Jackie accepted Christ at an early age. She joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Jacksonville, Florida and immediately became active in many of the early childhood and youth ministries. She served faithfully in The Children's Choir, The Youth Choir, Girl Scouts, and Sunday School.

Later in her adult years, Jackie was extremely dedicated in her duties and responsibilities in serving on the Board of Stewards (Pro-Tem, Secretary, and Steward Emeritus), a member of the Finance Team, Mass Choir, The Encouragers, and a faithful member of the Alexander Cottrell Sunday School Class.

Jackie attended the public schools of Duval County, and graduated with honors from New Stanton High School, Class of 1966.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Edwards Waters College (University). After graduation, Jackie was employed by the Duval County School Board System. She later was employed by the City of Jacksonville, where she retired after 30 years of dedicated service with JEA.

Jackie was a loving sister, auntie, cousin, friend, godmother who loved life and enjoyed making others around her feel special. She had a merry heart, a genuine kind spirit, and was blessed with the gift of making others laugh. She loved life. She loved the Lord which was reflected in her daily walk.

On the morning of December 29, 2025, Jackie was summoned by our Heavenly Father for her eternal rest.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her sisters: Jeanette Y. Kittles, Jacksonville, FL., Dr. Sharon V. Solomon (Ken), Maryland; an adored niece (raised as a daughter), Jaquel D. Rice, Jacksonville, FL; Goddaughter, Ashley

Harrington, one surviving aunt, Rose Stokes of Rochester, N.Y.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day." II Timothy 4:7-8

Jackie is my Precious sister from the heart. We had so many fun times together during summer time in Lawtey. We were always in the same class in school through 1966. I love her sweet heart and peaceful spirit. I will truly miss her.
