Jacqueline Canning Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Ambler on Feb. 17, 2026.
Jacqueline Mary Canning, 81, of Horsham, PA died on February 14, 2026. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 9, 1945 to the late Michael and Mary (Houck) Canning. She was the second youngest of 13, and grew up in Levittown, PA, raised by her older sister, Dot, and her husband, Don. There, she grew up alongside her nieces and nephews and attended Bishop Egan High School, where she developed friendships that she maintained for her entire life. Upon graduation, Jackie began a long career as a legal secretary for prominent Philadelphia lawyers. After a brief marriage and relocation to Maryland, she returned to Philadelphia, where she gave birth to her only child, Matt. She was a devoted mother who was heavily involved in school-related events during Matt's youth. Later, she brought that same love and energy to her role as "nana."

She loved true crime stories and had an irreverent sense of humor, which she maintained all the way up to the end. She is survived by her son Matt and his wife Michelle, her grandchildren, Lily and Will, and her siblings, George, Gertrude, and Mike Canning. She was pre-deceased by her 8 other siblings: Dot, Irene, Tilly, John, Steve, Claire, Loretta, and Marge.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 11:00AM at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Funeral Homes and Crematory, 951 E. Butler Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM-11:00AM. Interment will be private.
