Jackie, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was born August 30, 1950 to the late Thomas Bouldin Jr. and Flossie Odom Bouldin in the South Bronx, New York. After the untimely death of her mother, she and her siblings moved to Chester, VA with her grandparents, Thomas and Viola Austin Bouldin. Jackie also proudly served her country, obtaining rank as Staff Sergeant in the US Army Reserves upon retiring after 30 years of service.
Jackie and her friends were part of a club they called "The Spice Girls" and she was known as "Cayenne" because she was always "Hot & Spicy". She also modeled with a group of ladies in Petersburg under the direction of Bea Crutcher.
Jackie was married to the late Michael Hawkes for over 40 years.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Marcus K. Diggs; sisters, LaFrancia Bouldin Stewart, Doris Bouldin Bland and brothers, Thomas "Champ" Bouldin III and Stonewall Odom; two brothers-in-law, Douglas Newsome Sr. and Rev. William N. Bland, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Bouldin; and one nephew, Douglas Newsome Jr.
