Jacqueline D. "Jackie" Sample Litchfield, age 70, of Westerville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 18, 2025, after a lifelong battle with diabetes and subsequent health complications.

On September 24, 1954, Jackie was born in Mount Gilead, Ohio, the youngest of three children of Bettie June (Owens) Sample Holtom and the late Gerald Richard "Dick" Sample. She spent part of her childhood in Brunswick, Ohio, before returning to Mount Gilead, where she graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the class of 1973.

After graduation, Jackie moved to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where she worked in the hospitality industry and married George Litchfield. When their paths later separated, Jackie returned to Ohio to be with her mother in Westerville. She went on to work as a title clerk for Bob Caldwell's dealerships until her health no longer allowed her to continue.

Jackie had a love for travel, especially the many adventures she shared with her mom and stepfather, Harry Holtom. Together, they made countless trips to Northern Ontario, Canada, and spent parts of their winters in Cancun, Mexico. She was an avid reader, enjoyed a wide range of music, and rarely missed keeping up with her favorite television shows.

Her heart for animals was evident in the devotion she gave to her three beloved canine companions: Sammy, Maggie, and Lulu. Jackie also cherished her nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors, including two special young friends, Caroline and Piper.

Jackie will be remembered for her sharp wit, sense of humor, and unfiltered honesty. She was a woman of kindness and conviction-you always knew where Jackie stood.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and courage in the face of life's challenges.

She will be missed by her mother, Bettie Holtom of Westerville; a brother, Herb (Bobbi) Sample of Edison; three nephews: Ebben (Candice) Sample, Aaron (Angie) Sample, and Ian (Megan) Sample, and their children: Aubin, Griffin, Brecken, Bennett, Everett, Graham, Rowan, Maren and Lucan.

Including her father, Jackie was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Sample, step-father, Harry Holtom, and devoted and longtime companion, Stan Partlow.

Services will be observed privately by her family.
