Jacqueline Prive Obituary
She was born on October 23, 1942 to Aime and Noella (Tremblay) Bouchard and lived in Manchester all her life. She was educated at St. Augustina School, Central High School, and the NH Barber College. She married the love of her life, George J. Prive, Jr on May 3, 1958 and together they began a family.
Before beginning her barber career, Jackie worked for JF McElwain Co., MKM Knitted Fashions, and Manchester Hosiery Mills. She graduated from Barber School in 1967 and had a very successful career as a barber on the West Side of Manchester for over 50 years; notably at Kelley Street Barber Shop from 1967-1999. Jackie took a year off to do a little traveling, but her passion for her work and the people brought her back into business in 2000 when she opened Jackie's Barber Shop on Amory Street. She remained "behind the chair" there until her retirement in 2018.
Jackie leaves behind her two sons, Raymond Prive of Ocala, FL, and David Prive and his wife Stacie of Stratford, NH; 7 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband George; son Michael; sisters, Sylvia Leclerc and Denise Lemay; and brother Aime Bouchard, Jr.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 22nd from 10am-11am at the Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. A funeral service will follow at 11am in the funeral home. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
