Jacquelyn Marie Hassel, age 74 of Hayesville, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Jacquelyn was born May 16, 1951 to the late Jack Burroughs and Mary Willene (Allen) Burgess in Savannah, Georgia. She was in the 283rd Georgia Air National Guard. She was an avid history reader. She loved artwork, loved to dance, skate, music, and also loved animals. Most of all she loved being around and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Burroughs; mother and stepfather, Mary Willene and John Shelton Burgess Jr.; husband, William (Bill) Hassel; brother, Danny E. Burroughs; sister, Alice Taylor, Cheryl Foskey. She is survived by her sons, Michael Moon and his wife Robbyn, John Christopher Moon; brother, John Shelton Burgess III and his wife Tammy; sister, Karen R. Burgess Wandstrat and her husband Greg; grandchildren, Daynon Moon, Samantha Moon, Sabra Moon, Donovan Moon, Raquel Moon, Steven Moon, Savhanna Moon, Sierra Moon, Camryn Moon, Logan Moon, Felicia Hambrick and her husband Chris Meacham, Cecilia Morton, Eve Meacham; great-grandchildren, Bridger Wilson, Myra Moon; Seven Nieces; Three Nephews.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
