Jacquelyn Jeanette Sabbs, “Ms. Jackie”, a dear loving soul passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Jackie was born on October 19, 1947 to the late James “Doc” and Selma Sabbs in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jackie graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1965. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and Devry University and earned an Associate’s Degree. She spent most of her adult life in the Kansas City area. She worked for 30 years as a Meter Reader for Missouri Gas Energy, gaining status as one of the first female Meter Readers in the Kansas City area. After retiring from MGE, she worked for over ten years as a Manager for Avon Products where she met and trained countless Avon representatives in the Metro area. In addition, this position provided her the opportunity to travel all over the world to such places as Australia, England, Italy, France and countless other destinations. After retirement she also worked at Quest Diagnostics part time.
Jackie was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and traveling. Jackie accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has served as a dynamic Sunday School teacher, Pianist for church services, Youth choir director, and Evangelist along with many other roles in church over the years. Jackie had an infectious smile, a giving spirit and she blessed many with her time, talents and resources. Memories of Jackie will be filled with laughs and good times.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Alexandria Oakman, sister Sandra Greer, and brother Paris Sabbs. Jackie leaves to cherish her memory: daughter Radell Oakman, son-in-law Karl A. Oakman, grandsons, Karl B. Oakman and Joshua Oakman, sisters Berniece Sabbs (Little Rock, AR), Pamela Ward Moore (Jackson, MS), Betty Frazier (Pembroke Pines, FL) and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jackie leaves behind a legacy of hard work, strength, and kindness and helping others. May her soul rest in peace.
