Jacky Stecker, 94, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at home in Boone on Monday, April 21, 2025. She was born on December 9, 1930, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Margery Ehrhardt. On May 21, 1952, she married Stanley J. Stecker at the Methodist Church in Fenton, Iowa. She was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College (UNI).
Jacky was a dedicated teacher and teacher's aide. She volunteered with the RSVP Volunteer Program, IMPACT Food Pantry, and in the Boone County Hospital Gift Shop. Jacky was a fanatical gardener, enjoyed camping, and was an Iowa State Fair enthusiast and camper for over 60 years. She loved all things Christmas. Jacky was so short she was allowed to dance on tables during get-togethers. She loved to attend the kid's sporting and dancing events. Jacky was known to many as Grandma Stecker and GiGi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Stecker; parents, Roy and Margery Ehrhardt; brother, Kenneth Ehrhardt; sons-in-law, Tom Howell and Don Potter; and great-grandson, Isaac Stecker.
Jacky is survived by her sister, Jeanne Goode; children: Mike (Becky) Stecker, Deb Potter, Sue Howell, Michele (Scott) Hull, and Tom (Maggie) Stecker; grandchildren: Chad (Holly) Stecker, BJ (Kelly) Stecker, Mark (Amanda) Stecker, Andy (Brit) Gus, Ali (Aaron) Schweizer, Shana (Mark) Rainey, Aaron (Alicia) Howell, Sydney (Austin) Stecker, Jake (Erin) Stecker, Denise (Matt) Potter, and Dawn (Ron) Peta; her beloved great-grandchildren; and family by proxy, Ginny Fett, Keri and Derek Johnson, Eric Johnson, and Sheryl Sauermann.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Suncrest Hospice and Visiting Angels for the care that they showed Jacky.
