JACQUELYN TAYLOR Obituary

Published by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home on Oct. 20, 2019.
JACQUELYN S. TAYLOR of Walpole, MA died October 20, 2019 at the age of 66. A funeral director, embalmer and teacher, Jacquie served her apprenticeship at the McGaffey Andreason Eugene Memorial Chapel in Oregon before it was sold to Uniservice Corporation. Founder and CEO Ellsworth "Ells" Purdy became a devoted mentor to Taylor. She attended the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, where she served as an instructor before being promoted to director of admissions. After spending a few years as dean of students, Taylor continued to teach funeral related courses for nearly three decades, even after assuming the role of college president. In 2001, she joined Mount Ida College in Newton as a full tenured professor as well as the executive director of the college's New Englands Institute of Funeral Service Education. Taylor retired as a full-time professor in 2014 to establish The Funeral Tutor. In addition, she worked as a special projects coordinator and as a curator of the private family museum for The Dodge Company.

RIP Jacquie. You were a great inspiration to me starting in the funeral service later in life. Thank you for the support and encouragement and a great mentor. You will be sadly missed by all you have had the pleasure to know.
