Jacques Kossi Apaloo

Jacques Kossi APALOO was born on July 26, 1942, in Kpalimé, Togo. Jacques was a man of unwavering courage, boundless compassion, and profound wisdom. He was the 18th child, out of 19 children, in the APALOO lineage. From an early age, he embraced life's challenges with grace and resilience, embodying the spirit of perseverance and determination.

Jacques completed high school at the College Saint Joseph in Lomé, Togo. Jacques's journey led him to pursue higher education at Ecole de Droit in Dakar, Senegal where he excelled academically and received his degree in Law. He later went on to receive his Master’s degree at Ecole de la Magistrature in Bordeaux, France where he completed his education as a Magistrate. Armed with a brilliant mind and a compassionate soul, he dedicated his life to serving others and making a difference in the world. He later returned to Lomé where he was appointed as a Magistrate. His hard work and dedication led him to being appointed to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Togo where he became the President and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic. 

A true humanitarian at heart, Jacques dedicated countless hours to humanitarian causes, advocating for the rights and dignity of the marginalized and underserved. He represented Togo at the General Assembly of the United Nations to advocate for the civil rights of the Togolese women. He later became a Professor of Law at the University of Benin in Lome, Togo. His passion for social justice and his unwavering commitment to equality inspired all who crossed his path, igniting a flame of hope and empowerment in communities far and wide. 

Jacques's impact extended far beyond the borders of his beloved homeland of Togo. As a devoted advocate for global peace and reconciliation, he worked tirelessly to foster understanding and dialogue among diverse cultures and nations, bridging divides and fostering unity in the face of adversity.

In addition to his remarkable contributions to the world, Jacques was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His infectious laughter, compassionate spirit, and boundless love enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of his loved ones.

While we mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, we take solace in knowing that his legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched and the profound impact he made on all.

Jacques was preceded in death by his two elder sisters: Alice Apaloo-Akue and Regina Apaloo-Gbedey. He is survived by his wife Gisele Apaloo, his children: Pelagie Anthony, Jaqueline Ayivor, Annick Apaloo, Sika Apaloo, Michel Apaloo, and Delali Apaloo, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and his two elder brothers Pius and Thomas and two elder sisters Brigitte and Ellen. 

Jacques Apaloo bravely responded to the call of our maker to come home on January 31, 2024 after a brief illness.  

Jacques will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his beloved wife, Gisele, his cherished children, and his extended family.

Rest in peace, dear Jacques. Your kindness, compassion, and unwavering spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
