Jacques Pirson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium on Sep. 23, 2025.
Jacques (Jack) Emile Pirson was born on August 12, 1940, in Huntingdon, PA, and was the youngest of two children born to Meta Bolchert Pirson and Sylvain Pirson. He passed away on September 18, 2025, in Georgetown, TX.

Jack grew up in Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Oklahoma before moving to Texas, where he graduated from McCallum High School. Upon graduation, he entered The University of Texas-where his father was a professor-and proudly graduated with the UT Longhorn class of 1963, with a degree in Chemistry. He later attended UT El Paso to pursue a master's degree in Oceanography and Marine Biology. He was a lifelong learner, always curious and eager to explore new places and ideas.

Jack was a devoted Longhorn football fan and also closely followed Penn State football, as it was where his father was employed and the family lived during his early childhood.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, where he served in various roles, including helping serve communion, singing in the choir, acting as a lay minister, and serving on the church council.

Jack had a lifelong fascination with trains and traveled extensively by rail, often visiting historic railroads. His favorite hobbies were fly fishing, photography and cycling throughout Central Texas-sometimes solo, and often with his cycling group.

Later in life, Jack met and married his wife, Loretta Guest Pirson, and lovingly embraced her large family as his own. Loretta predeceased him in 2024, but Jack remained close with her family. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Meta and Sylvain Pirson; his brother, Richard Pirson; and his stepsons, Norman Meyer and Vincent Meyer.

Jack is survived by his nephew, Bobby Pirson (Dara), and their children-Rylee, Reid, and Dannah-and their families.

He is also survived by his four stepchildren: Karen Pfouts (Rick), Geneva Fitzsimmons (Wes), Anthony Meyer, and Jeannie Gattis (Gary), along with their families. Additional survivors include his stepdaughter-in-law, Linda Meyer, and his sisters-in-law: Brenda Stokes (Michael), Debbie Smith (Marvin), and Rebecca Sader.

The family extends a special thank you to Sedro Trail Assisted Living for their devoted care during Jack's time there.
