Jacqulin Erna (Vergin) Corson, age 81, of Starbuck, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Bethany on The Lake in Alexandria, MN.
There will be a celebration of life for Jackie at 11 am on September 27th, 2025, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MN with Rev. Micah Klemme officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service.
Jackie was born on Sunday, June 11, 1944, on the farm of her parents, Delbert D. and Eleanor A. Vergin in Rockford Township of Wright County MN. Jackie was baptized and confirmed at Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford, MN. She graduated from Buffalo High School and continued her education at the University of Minnesota as a Laboratory Technician in hematology. During her training, she held a part time job as a waitress at the Fairview Hospital restaurant where she met her husband, Corbin G. Corson. In 1966, she and Corbin moved to Starbuck, MN for Corbin’s first teaching job. In December of 1966, Jackie gave birth to their daughter, Megnon Rae Corson, and two years later, gave birth to their son, Daniel C Corson.
Jackie returned to work in 1970 as a Laboratory Technologist at the Starbuck Hospital and later in the new Minnewaska District Hospital. Spending many nights on call, including a snowmobile ride to work one snowy night, she continued working until 2006 when she retired.
Jackie was active in the Hospital Auxiliary, the Minnewaska Lutheran Church, and the Starbuck Study Club as well as many other clubs. She would also “lend a hand” when other organizations were in need of help. Jackie enjoyed time with friends and family. She was a bit of a card shark when playing bridge and a multitude of other card games. Most of all she enjoyed gardening her small plot in front of the house. She could spend hours in that garden weeding, planting, and watering just to give the produce to friends and neighbors. In the winter months, Jackie loved her bridge club and to sew and mend for her friends and family, but her real love was quilting. She made many quilts with friends for church donations as well as others. Jackie enjoyed many of the family vacations throughout the U.S. She especially enjoyed the annual Canadian fishing adventures.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Corbin, of 61 years; daughter, Meg Prekker of Prior Lake, MN; son, Dan (Becky) Corson of Juneau, AK; grandchildren, Denny and Corbin Corson of Juneau, AK, Billy Luedke, and Brigitte (Christian) Sickler of Prior Lake, MN; great granddaughter, Mila Sickler; sisters, Bonnie Gelle of Grand Rapids, MN and Paulette (Paul) Pelletier of Mayer, MN; sister-in-law, Julie Vergin of Loretto, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother, Jerome, and brother-in-law, Loren Gelle.
Jackie enjoyed every stage of her life. She will be missed by many. She was richly blessed and will enjoy being in Heaven.
