Born on June 10, 1941, in Americus, Georgia, Superintendent Singletary was the cherished son of the late Willie Mathis Singletary, Sr., and the late Fannie Lou Singletary. From humble beginnings, his life was a testament to hard work, faith, and divine purpose, exemplifying a legacy of service, love, and spiritual leadership.
Superintendent Singletary received his early education through the Hillsborough County School System. A proud graduate of Middleton High School, he was known among his peers for his discipline, integrity, and leadership. Following high school, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. During his six-and-a-half years of service, he was recognized as an Expert Rifleman, a designation that highlighted his dedication, precision, and commitment to excellence. His years of military service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism that he carried throughout his life.
Upon completing his military service, Superintendent Singletary returned to Tampa, where he worked for the City of Tampa for 12 years. Never one to settle, he later pursued technical training in mechanics. With determination and skill, he became a master of his craft, specializing in rebuilding transmissions and motors. This expertise not only provided for his family but also reflected his resourcefulness and dedication to hard work. Superintendent Singletary was an avid fisher and enjoyed passing time on the shores and banks of God's most crystal streams, ponds, and lakes.
Superintendent Singletary's life was forever transformed when he received the gift of salvation under the ministry of the late Bishop W.E. Davis at College Hill Church of God in Christ. Guided by his unwavering faith, he fully committed himself to the work of the Lord. Embracing his divine calling, he became the esteemed Pastor of New Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. Under his leadership, the church thrived as a place of worship, community, and spiritual growth. Known for his powerful sermons, compassionate heart, and steadfast dedication, Superintendent Singletary nurtured his congregation with love and wisdom.
In addition to his pastoral role, Superintendent Singletary served faithfully as the Superintendent of the Shiloh District. He provided leadership, guidance, and support to numerous churches within the district, earning the respect and admiration of clergy and parishioners alike. His commitment to serving God and His people extended beyond the pulpit, as he worked tirelessly to uplift and empower those around him.
