Jadyn Elise Barnes

Jadyn Elise Barnes, of Mechanicsville, MD, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 20, 2018. Born on October 9, 2001, Jadyn was 16 years old. Jadyn was affectionately known as “Iddy Biddy” “Jadybug” and “Pumpkin”. Jadyn attended Chopticon High School, where she was entering her junior year. She was employed by McDonalds in Charlotte Hall, MD where on any given day, you could find this hard worker and her beautiful smile as she greeted you through the drive-thru. At an early age, Jadyn found her way around the kitchen. She enjoyed preparing meals for other family members and baking. She entertained friends with something from the kitchen. Her specialty was anything bacon and homemade apple pies. Jadyn’s creative eye and artistic ways sparked her interests in becoming a photographer. She had a great eye for natural shots and she loved taking still shots and photos of nature. Jadyn completed a photography course with B. Roll Media in College Park, MD as well as a photography class at school. Jadyn was a rock painter, who liked to leave creative messages on rocks. She was always excited when someone found a rock that she hid in the county. Jadyn was an avid reader and creative writer. She read a lot of fiction books. On numerous occasions, her pink fairy lights would be on all night because she simply could not put her phone down until she completed a specific book. Finally, Jadyn had an ear for music. From alternative, to hard rock, to country, to rap it did not matter; she enjoyed any genre of music. Often you could find her reading on her current phone while listening to music from her old phone, so the battery would not die as fast. She was so excited that she got to attend her second Van’s Warped Tour Concert this summer. She enjoyed her trips to Oak Harbor, WA to visit her brother and sister. Jadyn’s abundance of love for her Aunt BB led to trips to the National Rehabilitation Center in Washington, DC as she wanted to “take care of BB”. She often took the time to help BB with any and everything; from putting on her shoes, to helping her in and out of the car. There was not a time when driving through Hollywood, MD, she did not ask to stop by to check on BB or perhaps invite BB to dinner or to the movies. She was so excited when she got her license because she could now drive BB around on their outings.

Jadyn was Jadyn; a humble, soft spoken, rare bird who can never be duplicated. She was always happy and had an infectious, beautiful smile. Jadyn’s old soul was a gift from God, leaving no choice but to love her. She was appreciative with a huge heart yet very direct and blunt with her words. You could always receive an honest and sometimes curt opinion from her. Her individuality brightened so many lives. You would often find her dressed in her band t-shirts, sweats, and Vans shoes.

Jadyn is survived by her parents, Crystal Bush and Jermaine Barnes; grandparents, Patricia (BB) Somerville, Joyce Barnes, Florine Somerville and James Stone; great grandmother, Shirley T. Dickerson; siblings, Airiana Johnson and Jermaine “JB” Barnes, Jr.; aunts, Kneeca (James) Blackwell, Jewel Bond, Giovanna (Jason) Bonefont, Carolyn (Santo) Bush, Jackie (Jerry) Butler, and La Quinta Butler; uncles, Brian Bush, Robert Bush, Sr., Thomas (Leah) Somerville, Pastor Rodney (Cynthia) Thompson, and Sean Yates; great aunts and uncles, Jackie Ballard. Charles (Grace) Bush. Loretta Ann (James) Carter, Charles, Francis (Lori), Mary, Norman and Shirley Dickerson, LaRuby Lamell, Alan (Linda), Charles (Loretta), Purnell (Elaine) and Robert Somerville and Agnes Thomas; godparents, Anissa Jones, Raquel Stone, Thomas Somerville and Troy Washington; special uncle, Darnell Young and a host of family and friends.

Jadyn was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Linda and Robert (Bobby) Bush, and paternal grandfather Thomas Eugene Somerville, Sr., and her German Shepard Blackie. Family and friends will unite on Saturday, September 1, 2018 for visitation at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Gospel Tabernacle of Prayer Church, 24516 Budds Creek Road, Clements, MD 20624. Interment will be private. Pastor Margo Gross and Pastor Rodney Thompson will be officiating.
