JC Azlin, son of Charlie and Ruth Marie (Needom) Azlin was born September 3, 1939, in Heavner, Oklahoma. Jake grew up and attended school and graduated from high school in Heavener in 1957. He then served in the Army for two years. Following his discharge, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he began his 30-year career with Sutherland Lumber Company. That job took him to several cities, including Memphis, Tennessee, and Garland, Texas. His last assignment with Suthelands was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1990, he moved to the Eddyville/Albia area and began working for Warwick Wood Products. He retired in 2002.
Jake's first marriage was to Karen Sue Steele in 1965; they had three daughters. Karen passed away in 1997. In 1998, he married Diana L. McCombs. Jake was a longtime member of the Baptist Church. He was an avid woodworker, enjoyed fishing and camping, and loved riding his horse, Stormy.
Jake's family includes his wife, Diana; his daughters: Melynda (Mike) Spoor of Cameron, Missouri, Rebecca (Dennis) Durst of Ottumwa, and Alicia (Jason) VanDerVeer of Cotter, AR; a step-daughter, Kayla (Tom) Lawrance of Pella; nine grandchildren: Madison (Micheal) Brown, Quintin (Monica) Durst, Courtney (Hunter) Kelderman, Kendal Durst, Travis (Sara) VanDerVeer, Amanda (Steve Hol) VanDerVeer, Connor VanDerVeer, Rylie Lawrence, and Audrey Lawrence; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Karen, Jake was preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Adam Azlin, two brothers: Charles and Andy Azlin, and a sister, Ann Morris.
As was his wish, Jake's body has been cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Highland Cemetery near Eddyville. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with Jake's arrangements.
