Our beloved son Jake Katzenberger passed away on August 3, 2023, at the age of 7. Jake was born January 13, 2016, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Jake had just finished first grade at St. Charles Elementary. Jake was a happy, loving, kind, silly, energetic little boy. He loved wrestling, soccer, and baseball. Jake also enjoyed swimming, climbing trees, and riding his bike. Jake’s favorite video games were Roblox and Minecraft. Some of Jake’s best memories were made with his family at their cabin in Oscoda. Most of all, Jake loved his family and adored his dog, Winston.
Jake is survived by his loving parents: Jason and Angela Katzenberger, best friend & sister Ellie, grandparents: Neil and Linda Katzenberger, Jesse and Pam Quiroga; aunts and uncles: Stephanie Katzenberger, Brian Katzenberger, Jessica (Andrew) Rood, Katie O’Farrell, Joel (Ashley) Katzenberger; special cousins: Kennedy, Dylan, Steven, William, Claire, Dakota, Brianna, Jace, Vivian, as well as many other loving relatives.
Jake was preceded in death by his Nana Ellen K. Zimmer.
The family would like to thank the amazing Pediatric ICU Staff of both Covenant Healthcare of Saginaw and Hurley Medical Center of Flint.
Jake was a real-life superhero who loved to help others. His family is so proud and grateful that his legacy will live on through the lives of the children he saved with his organ donation.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss St., Saginaw. Rev. Michael R. Korte and Rev. Charles F. Buckhahn will officiate.
