Charlottesville, VA – Jake Anders Martel, 25, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Born July 20, 1999, in York, Maine. He is the son of Karen Davis Martel and Jeff Martel.
Members of his family include his mother Karen Davis Martel of Lebanon, ME; his father and stepmother Jeff and Paula Martel of Strafford, NH; his siblings Sam C. Martel of Philadelphia, PA; Nicole Osborne of New Boston, NH; his two step brothers Cody Driscoll and wife Emily of Milford, NH; and Jesse Driscoll of Barnstead, NH; his maternal grandfather Robert Davis of Gainesville, FL; and his paternal grandfather Allen Martel of Strafford, NH; his great aunt, Virginia Kenney of Nashua, NH; two aunts Joanne Fern and husband Neil, and Christine Peterson and husband Karl, two uncles Brian Martel and wife Chrie, and Andrew Martel and wife Jennifer and numerous cousins.
Jake was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Audrey (Carlen) Davis, and his paternal grandmother, Dottie (Murphy) Martel.
Jake was a wonderfully gifted young man, born with a drive for learning and challenging himself in all aspects of life. He carried this drive and intensity throughout his 25 years. He followed his passions for health and fitness into college. In 2022, Jake graduated from the University of Virginia with degrees in Kinesiology and Psychology. He was the General Manager and Personal Trainer at Success Studio North and, having entered into a partnership with his real estate mentor, was the House Manager where he resided. Jake loved and cherished his family, close friends, coaches, and mentors. Jake often spoke of his love and appreciation for his parents, Karen and Jeff, and the support he received from his stepmother, Paula. His sister, Nikki, held a special place in his heart, and he had the most love and admiration for his younger brother and best friend, Sam.
From an early age, Jake showed a passion and drive like no other. Jake's life was a journey led by his desire to be the best version of himself in every way. His work ethic was infectious, and he pushed those around him to be better than they thought they could be. He overcame obstacles and great adversity, and through his battles, Jake found optimism, peace, and love. In his next chapter, he hoped to share these things with the rest of the world.
Jake's time with us was far too short, but the love, joy, and inspiration he brought into the world will never be forgotten. He lived with passion, embracing every moment and leaving an undeniable mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Though we grieve this heartbreaking loss, we can choose to honor his memory by living as he did- fully, fearlessly, and with purpose, reminding ourselves to cherish every day, just as he would have wanted.
Please join us in celebrating the life of Jake on April 5, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM (1-3:30 Visitation, 3:30 Words of Rememberance) at Grace Ventures, 77 Carl Broggi Hwy, Lebanon, ME. Let's come together to share memories, laughter, tears, and love in his honor.

I'll never forget the day that you, Karen, brought Jake to our house when he was five or six years old to catch as many garter snakes as he could. He fearlessly and repeatedly dove into our shrubs and brush. Each time he stood up, he was smiling and holding another snake. We laughed and cheered his serious and playful efforts to help. He carefully put them all into a pillow case. Karen, I guess you and Jake drove to a field next to a road and set them free. Such a precious young man!

We are deeply saddened for your loss and we are holding you and your families in our hearts and prayers. May you all find a healing comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Karen, Jeff and family....my heart sank when kateLynn informed me of Jakes passing. I am so sorry to hear this. The loss of a loved one is never easy. As parents we are not supposed to be the ones burying our children. They are supposed to out live us. May all the memories you have of Jake be shared and remembered always. Jake is such an amazing person. So encouraging and always there whenever someone was in need. My family has many many fond memories of the numerous wrestling tournaments we attended. His laughter can still be heard and always will be. The love you shared was always shown. My heart goes out to you all. Many hugs and prayers sent to you.
