Jakob Ehret, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 in Westminster, Colorado. He was born on January 21, 1935, in Malcocci, Romania to Stefan and Eleonora Ehret. Jake grew up during the war torn years of World War II, moving from Romania to Poland and lastly to Germany. In 1952, his family immigrated to the US assisted by the Catholic Church. They began their life in the US as farmworkers in Brighton, Colorado.
Jake served in the US Army as a staff sergeant. Following his army service, he worked as a butcher. Twenty-two years later, he quit that backbreaking job, after which he and his wife sold everything they owned to pursue the American Dream of entrepreneurship. They moved to California, purchased and operated a 54 unit motel in partnership with their brother-in-law. Six years later he and his wife sold the motel and moved back to Colorado. After a few years of retirement Jake returned to work helping his daughter and son-in-law in their Insurance brokerage firm, where he developed many friendships and was loved by his coworkers.
Upon his second retirement, Jake filled his days working in his garden and caring for his wife Litwina (aka - Winny/Lena). He loved watching Bronco Games with his family and often prepared a favorite recipe - his painstakingly made green chili.
Jakob is survived by many in his family including his wife, Litwina Ehret; adoring children, Linda (Rod) Regalado of Paradise Valley, Arizona; Steven (Anna) Ehret of Acworth, Georgia; Heidi (Greg) Chance of Westminster, Colorado; beloved, grandsons Jakob, and Paul (Amber), great-grandchildren, Lexi and Ryker; siblings, Juliana, Herman, and Maria; as well as many wonderful, nephews, nieces and friends.
