Game against American River, under 2 minutes left in the game were down less than 6 points. Our defense stops AR and it's 4th down and they send out their punt team. We call timeout to stop the clock. Jamal goes to our head coach,
"Let me return the punt coach, Coach let me return the punt, Coach let me return this punt"
NO DOUBT in my mind Coach JJ put him in simply so Jamal would get out of his ear, no different from a kid bugging a parent for some candy to a point they give in because they were tired of the kid begging lol.
This man returned the punt 80+yds for what would be a game winning TD and our first win of the season. The HIGHLIGHT was seeing Jamal drop in the end zone, takes his helmet off, untucks his shirt and loosen his shoulder pads.. the refs flag him for it ... and Coach JJ asks him what hell he did all that for.... "COACH I COULDN'T BREATHE"
Miss my dude, I was literally searching social media and google for him less than two weeks ago... just found out tonight about his passing. Jamal would come to my apt and we would have deep talks about life and with a flip of a switch he have a conversation that had us in tears laughing. Rest in Peace my guy.
