James Wilbert Akers

James Wilbert Akers, 81, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away October 29, 2025. James served in the Vietnam War in the Navy. He is survived by his Sister, Joyce Gore, his niece Stacy. He is also survived by his daughter, Jodie Eberhart and his son's, Travis and Heath Akers. Jim's grandchildren include Skyler, Marina and Noah and six great grandchildren. In Jim's early life, he was a bull rider and met his wife Dianna as the Lakeside Rodeo. They fell in love and Had 3 children and were married for over 25 years. As life sometimes happens, they divorced. Jim married again and his wife passed away. Jim lived out his final years in Olive Branch MS where he was surrounded by fellow veterans, golfers and friends. He will be laid to rest at the Memphis National Cemetery where his Brother Richard Lee Akers, who also served was buried in 1990. Jim passed on 10/29/25, on his son Travis' birthday. He was a strong independent proud man and lived a long life. At 81 years old he chose to pass in his home on his terms. .
